Default Need options for more speed in my 2014 Precedent

Hi, new member here with my first golf cart. I bought a reconditioned 2014 Precedent with what I assume is just the stock motor setup. At full charge I can get 17 - 19mph on a flat surface. What options are there for me in increasing the speed for my cart?

Thanks for your help,
Bob

Hi Bob - welcome to BGW
I have this cart in my research fleet.
I laid out some steps you can take and the results I got in this discussion today here >FSIP speed motor upgrade question

My cart is easily going 27 mph with increased power

Thanks scottyb for the info! If I read correctly the upgraded controller should do what I need - Alltrax XCT 500 Amp Controller.

I think this may be a bit out of my comfort zone to install though. Need to find a wrench friend!

If your around KCMO I can help. Just installed one on a 2014 this weekend. It's daunting when you open it up but just follow the Alltrax online instructions and it's pretty straight forward. Just don't forget to take pictures of everything before you take it apart.

If you do buy it I recommend ScottyBs carts unlimited. He shipped super fast. Made it to KC two days after ordering the 500 combo.

That is just 1 piece. He changed more including the motor. Sounds like you already have speed code 4. And you can go with the 500 if you are going to upgrade more in the future, but scottyb did the following from his post. And if you do get a 500, you'll need to have it programmed for your stock motor or "Boom", 'Bam', "Ka-Pow" - get my drift Batman.

scottyb: On my 2014 Prec I upgraded in this progression:
1. dealer speed code 4 = 19.mph
2. FSIP A3 high speed motor = same 19 mph (controller limit)
3. XCT48300 (smallest controller yet 135 peak amps higher) = 27 mph

It's rare that somebody is smart enough to know when they about to step outside their comfort zone.

Thanks scottyb and nolefan4ever! As I grow older I have slowly determined the dividing line for my comfort zone! I have been lucky so far and not bitten off too much when it comes to mods to my Harley! I will take a look at your Carts Unlimited website. The $$ cost may trip the threshold and require capital approval from the wife though! But hey, she is the one looking for speed. Cheers

There is no twelve step program for golf cart syndrome on this site. Only 120,000 enablers who constantly request buggy pics. Run Away!!!!!! BTW, post a pic of your new cart. Welcome!

And remember, if you can capitalize it, you can amortize it over ~32 years as opposed to it hitting you all in the purchase year...
(Wait, we were talking capitalizing versus expensing right?!?! )
