Cart jerks at start
I have a 86' cart that just recently started jerking while driving it at low speed, especially when starting in forward or reverse. I checked all of the solenoids and micro switches and all appear to be working correctly. I changed all of the wires about 2 years ago due to the same issue because one of the wires was burnt out. I changed the battery cables this Spring. The batteries themselves are about 7 yrs old. Any other ideas?

Re: Cart jerks at start
with 7 year old batteries that would be the first thing I check. Check for total pack voltage.

Re: Cart jerks at start
Voltage on each battery was good along with total voltage for all 6.

Re: Cart jerks at start
you would want to load test them also. Perhaps at 7 years old you could need some fresh ones..

Re: Cart jerks at start
Hook your meter up to the total pack and see what your voltage is when you step on the pedal. My guess is you will see a significant drop in the total pack voltage. It is not that uncommon for an older battery to show fully charged when at rest, load test is the only way to determine if they are good or not.

Re: Cart jerks at start
Motor brushes Will do that as well as low voltage or loose connection, or bad throttle control.
