Default 1995 Club Car DS OBC

Hi everybody – I just picked up a series 1995 club car DS. It’s been sitting for about two years. When I connected the Powerdrive charger to it, nothing happened. This was no surprise to me, since I have some experience with the electronic club cars.

I opened up the charger and jumped the relay, and the charger outputs the proper voltage. I connected it to the cart, and the amperage meter doesn’t do anything, so I ran a wire from the last negative on the battery pack to the negative on the back of my receptacle.

The orange battery light on the dash is glowing, but the amperage meter on the charger still shows zero.

I know these batteries will probably have to be replaced soon, but I was hoping the charger but at least do something.

Is there anything else I need to be doing to try to manually charge this thing?

The batteries are US Batteries, and I see “E 8 Y” on the lead terminals, and “A121D” on the top of the battery. Does anybody have any idea how old they are? I am not really familiar with this brand of battery.

Thanks in advance-

Luke.

Check the fuse on the negative side of the charger receptacle (part #6):

Do 2 tests:
Measure the voltage from pack positive to pack negative battery terminals.

Measure the voltage from the positive and negative sockets on the front of cart charger receptacle.
Please post the actual voltage, but they should be the same in both of those locations with your negative wire by-pass.

I didn’t put a photo. They say “E 8 Y” on the lead posts and “A121D” engraved in the top right on the plastic.
