Control Wiring Fuse
I'm wiring up my old Harley much like a 36v series DS would be wired. My question is, how important is the 'control wiring fuse' show in the upper left section of the attached diagram? The Curtis manual states to use a 10 amp fuse. I don't believe CCs have a fuse there, do they? I know they don't have a 'power wiring fuse' from the factory. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Re: Control Wiring Fuse
I figure fuses are never a bad thing, so I'll probably include one.
I just wasn't sure if CC used them... |

Re: Control Wiring Fuse
Definitely add a fuse as close to the power source as possible since its purpose is to protect the wiring from catching fire in case of a short.
You can use the Solenoid big post instead of pack positive. Only some of the old Club Cars did not have a fuse on the "logic power" circuit, which was a bad idea. |

Re: Control Wiring Fuse
When I was blowing micro-switches and before putting the Alltrax controller, I noticed both Alltrax and Curtis called for the 10 amp fuse. The fuse saved me 2 more m/s before I got rid of the offending controller. Cheap insurance

Re: Control Wiring Fuse
Another question. Instead of creating an entire new thread, I'll just ask it here. Should I install a power wire fuse on the main 6 gauge battery wires? Again, I don't think most stock carts come with one, so I'm trying to decide if I need it. When I upgraded my CC to an Alltrax, the Alltrax came with a fuse, but the stock setup did not have a fuse. Thanks.

Re: Control Wiring Fuse
As I understand it, the main power fuse won't blow fast enough to save the controller(per JohnnieB), It will save the rest of the cart from a controller melt down. Basicly Alltrax and Curtis are covering their butt.

Re: Control Wiring Fuse
I wonder where I'd find a beefy fuse like that? Fleabay?

Re: Control Wiring Fuse
Thanks. The link doesn't seem to be working, but I found them on the site. I have a 275 amp controller, would a 250 amp fuse be ok? It says the 250 amp fuse is for 300-400 amp controllers though...
