Default 14mph 48volt Club Car

I have a box stock 97 CC 48 volt. On the flats it runs 14mph recorded with my GPS. The cart I had before this one was a stock 99 cc 48 volt which ran 16 and pulled on the hills much better than this cart. I would still have this cart but was hit head-on by some young guys at night because they misjudged how wide their cart was. No one was seriously hurt but the cart was totaled . My problem is this 97 just doesn’t seem to have the torque of our last one. We use our cart as a second car and wife is very unhappy with the performance this cart. I have been reading about the Plum Quick motors and was wondering if just a motor change would be enough to give 19 mph and enough torque to pull inclines without slowing to 8 mph. The cart paths in our town are twisty and not really much need for speed over 20 mph, distance on a charge is more important to us. If I do the motor change and it is not enough I would want to add a controller and wires later but money is money and would like to get by as cheaply as possible. Also how do I tell just what kind of cart I have? The forward Reverse control on this cart is a lever, on the 99 it was a switch. Last week I install a new set of Trogan T-875 battiers and I have 4 cycles on them as of today.

Your 99 was a regen car and your 97 is a series car. Its just the luck of the draw if the car was completely stock and it ran that quick. DOT requires that the cars fall under their guidelines which is under 15 MPH.

Best bang for the buck is a motor upgrade, Plum Quick or EMP are great ways to go.

I would call PlumQuick and ask for Robby letting him know what cart you have and what to really expect if you did a PQ motor upgrade. I also would call the vendors here and see what they have to offer with just a motor upgrade and what speed to expect. I did the PQ Motor but mine is an IQ. I believe someone else did the PQ 48 on a cart they coverted to 48 and got just a few MPH more.
