Battery drain with a stereo
For those of you with stereos, I was wondering what sort of battery drain you have experienced. More specifically, battery drain without an additional battery dedicated to accessories. How much does it decrease run time?
Thank you Andy |

Re: Battery drain with a stereo
Mine never drained enough to really even notice it effect the pack. I did move it to a voltage reducer after a few years so as to not keep taxing that one battery. (Mine are 4x12's)

Re: Battery drain with a stereo
Then it is not very much at all unless you are running an amp and high energy usage accessories.
You can do a power calculation even though you cannot truly convert watts to amps, since watts are power and amps are coulombs per second (like converting gallons to miles). But if you have at least least 2 of these 3 (amps, volts or watts) then the missing one can be calculated. Since watts are amps multiplied by volts, there is a simple relationship between them. The conversion of Watts to Amps at a fixed voltage is governed by the equation: Amps = Watts/Volts An Example 12 watts/12 volts = 1 amp. So you can calculate out the usage rate/amount and determine your power drain. |

Re: Battery drain with a stereo
Its going to depend on the system you install!
Stock head unit, 2 speakers, not amplified does not have that much draw. But if you get crazy with the system, well that's different. I had to build my alt. from 65 to 100 amps and add two tractor trailer batteries to keep the system in my boat from killing the engine running WOT. |

Slightly off topic for a min - for those have have stereo's, how are you using your cart? I mean I don't find myself going very far at a time to go through the hassle of putting one in. I mean I get the wow factor of it, but like someone else said...I just use a higher end bluetooth and it works great...for my no more than 10-15 min trips.
Maybe on the golf course - if that's allowed? |

Jb, these carts have a purpose other than a wow factor? Please tell me more about this. Haha!
