Help - Alltrax Install questions
Putting in an Alltrax XCT tonight...ran into a couple questions that I'm unsure of.
1) Cable kit came with 8 total cables...do I reuse my existing field wires? 2) The existing curtis controller has a 4-wire plug in it (along with the main harness). What do I do with this? 3) Any other wires bolted to the curtis controller - do I put those back in the same place? There is one other short one that looks like it's going to the computer or at least near it (no it's not the one going through it). 4) Solenoid - my existing solenoid has 2 small wire clips (the flat ones that slide together) on the front of it...my new 400A one doesn't, what do I do with these wires? Thanks in advance! Oh - its a 2006 DS 4x12V cart (AQ serial) |

Re: Help - Alltrax Install questions
Generally speaking; Put the run/tow switch in tow first and into run lastly
1. Yes, these low amperage wires need no upgrading. Alltrax has included ring terminals for these wires. The installer will swap the ends out. Note is the test drive is reverse direction when forward is selected swap the position of these 2 wires. There is a typo in most of the install manuals. 2. The Curtis controller program cable will not be used. Wind it up and zip-tie it in a safe location. 3. The speed sensor plug will not connect to the new XCT. The motor rpm will be monitored using a redundant signal in the main harness. 4. The bigger 400 solenoid uses a #10 ring terminal. The installer will change these out. Carefully follow the install manual and any supplemental instruction you may have gotten. Guess at nothing. I hope this helps. |

Re: Help - Alltrax Install questions
Thanks...to verify - with pictures:
2) circled in yellow...just tie it up out of the way. 3) circled in pink on the curtis- again disregard and dont use? It doesnt look like a speed sensor wire. Its pretty heavy - prob 10-12ga or so. It leads to a post on the "wall" just below the obc, from that post another wire into the loom that goes into the obc. 4) so these just get converted to ring terminals and mount to the smaller bolts on the solenoid? |

^^
4) above - not sure why I said small bolts on the solenoid - looks like theres really only the two main ones - so that's where they go? |

Re: Help - Alltrax Install questions
Yes, the small wires will need ring terminals on them and they will connect to the solenoid small posts.
These are the supply wires for activating the solenoid. Yes, the circled four pin is not used, just tie it up out of the way. The black 10-12 awg wire (circled pink) goes to a ground stud for attaching accessory grounds. That stud is isolated from the frame as the frame is not used for grounds in an electric cart. This wire will be used. Since scottyb is not online and I was I just chimed in. scottyb support is top notch! Oops, he is online now! |

Re: Help - Alltrax Install questions
The small terminals with the nuts on them are where the small wires with the new ring terminals will go.
The other two small ones on top are for the cover, nothing connects there. |
