Battery warning light
First ever post here. According to my serial number I have a 1997 48 volt Club Car DS Series golf cart. I have spent quite a bit of time looking over the manual that I purchased for this cart. The charger seems to be working fine, goes through the on and off on diagnostic motions when first plugged in. It pulls 11 amps to start and 9 or 10 hours later it's still pulling around 5 amps. According to the research I've done the OBC should shut the charger of when the voltage reaches 58.3 volts. Can anyone confirm that? I have taken voltage readings across the batteries and the best reading I get is 57.4 with the battery charger still on after many hours. The battery warning light is not coming on at all. By looking at the wiring diagram and removing the dash panel I see the battery light gets +48 volts via the wire feeding the key switch the other side of the battery light (brown wire) goes to the OBC. I've read that the battery light is more than just a light but can't find anything to confirm that. I also know there is a fuse on the brown wire going back to the OBC. It looks like all of the wires going to OBC are fused. I put an ohm meter across the battery light and it reads open. My questions. Are the fuses going to the OBC somewhere under the wire loom? If battery light is bad where can I buy one for my year golf cart? Is the battery light nothing more than a light bulb? Could and should I take a voltage reading from the brown wire coming from the OBC at the warning light to +48 volts of the key switch? If so what kind of a reading should I get? Is there another way to test the output of the OBC to the battery light? Thanks to all for any help.

Re: Battery warning light
If you want to see if the light works, plug the charger in, let it turn on, then pull the A/C cord on the charger but leave the D/C cord plugged in, that should send a fault code and the light should come on.

Re: Battery warning light
Change the light if the wires are hooked up and it doesn't turn on

Re: Battery warning light
Anyone know where I can buy a battery warning light for my 1997 golf cart? I see several places that have lights for years 1998 and newer but can't find anything for 1997 and older. Will the light for 1998 and newer work on my cart?
Thanks in advance for any help. |
