Default My first electric rebuild

Picked up this cart to try my hand at an electric rebuild.
20170905_163502.jpg20170905_163515.jpg

I know very little about electric carts so I will need some advice. I am not going to go extreme with this build but I will be looking for improvement over stock.
My main questions are what do I need for batteries, motor, speed control?
Is there anything I should look for different than a gas cc.
Looking forward to all suggestions.

Is it a 36 or 48 volt cart?

Start with posting the serial #. Knowing that will get everyone started in the right direction.

I don't know. I have looked it up and it is a 1996. There are no batteries and the electronics are kind of crusty from sitting out in a field. I presume the 48v is a more powerful setup so I will probably lean towards that.
I have very little understanding of the electric parts of the cart. I have done a few gas carts but on this one I don't know where to start with the batteries and motor.

It should be on the tag (No pun intended) under the passenger side of the dash. If it is gone, then remove the front end cowl and it will be stamped in the frame area.

If it is not a resistor cart or a Regen I cart, things will be easier. If it is just a regular 48v series cart then you can get you and Admiral MOT-A1, Alltrax SR48300 (or higher), solenoid, and a good set of US Batteries, Trojan's or Crowns and you will be rocking along.

It is a 36 volt or and old resistor cart, scottyb sells complete upgrade kits.

If you check scottyb - Carts Unlimited and David Hicks - Revolution Golf Cars, they both will have motor, controller, solenoid packages to meet your needs.

Does the serial # identify those things? I have no idea what most of those things are so I could stare at the cart all day and not know 36v from 48v or if it has a resistor or not.

Had to magnify and squint at the pictures; but it appears to have a shift lever (series) and a Powerdrive charger on the trailer (48v with OBC). Really had to squint - not sure of the charger but I sure think it is. Maybe that will help everyone decode the drive type so OP can get some indication of next steps. Yes, a photo of the crusty electrics would solve it for sure.

OK that is what the cart currently has. I am not married to any of it. So Scotty what do I need to make this cart a tire smoker.
