What's the best way to wire multiple light switches?
I have several lights wired up together on my jeep golf cart. But it would be cool to be able to control them separately if I can. What would be the best route to put them on separate switches? I want to avoid several relays if possible. That are all on one relay right now.
On the headlight, the halo ring and the center light can be controlled separately, and I'd like to control the Amber kc light also. That leaves needing three switches. How can I wire them without having three separate wiring kits? |

My 2010 F250 uses a rotary switch for parking and headlights. I would assume you still have to run separate wires from the switch to the lights but might only use one relay and power feed. But I haven't pulled it out to see.

Since your head lights and amber lights are separate units just intercept the positive (+) wires to the amber lights and install a separate switch to power them. All your lights are working so no additional wiring on the ground (-) side. I'm wiring my fog lights on my cart with an amber illuminated LED rocker switch.

Do you have separate wires running back to the dash for the parking lights? If not, you need to. Leave the relay and switch for the headlights and wire the running lights and whatever else you want separately to another switch.

I put in a 3-way push/pull marine switch for my running lights and headlights. Works as intended.

I installed an "Atwood" 3 position push/pull marine switch for my runners and headlights. Works as intended.

Re: What's the best way to wire multiple light switches?
Quite a bit depends on how much current each circuit pulls. If it pulls more than 5 amps I would use a relay.

Re: What's the best way to wire multiple light switches?
Since you are on the 12v side of things and the lights are LED's the load is very low...most switches are rated for 15a...so no relay needed. Switching the Pos. Source wire to the individual lights is the correct way.😎

Re: What's the best way to wire multiple light switches?
I eliminated relays, [one less made in china POS to fail] by using decent toggle switches. If you look you can find some serious amp ratings and no extra wiring compared to relays. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but don't a lot of smaller airplane wiring use toggles?
