Default 48v cart.....36v motor question

Curiosity may kill the cat, but asking can't hurt..... ;)

I've heard of 36v EasyGo owners upgrading to 48 volts (bats/cables/controler/ect..) but using their 36volt motor and getting more speed/torque.

I have all the hardware (see signature) running in my 2001 48v CC ds.

What happens in terms of performance if I swap the 48v D395 with the 36v D395 keeping the rest of the cart the same?

Anyone already gone through the motions and have any info to share?

about 4 years ago I replaced the stock motor with a "Ultra High Torque" motor.

Non-peak
11.4 HP @ 2,300 RPM at 48-volts

Is that the info you were looking for?

Unless I have missed something with GE motors it is the same motor whether it is 36v or 48v. The only difference being you will get higher performance from a 48v setup and this motor requires a controller upgrade which you already have. Most of the DC series motors (probably some exceptions) will run on either 36 or 48 volt system, but as i stated above you will see better performance when in a 48v system.

For example I have a 48v CC DS Series cart with a stock GE D377 that has 36 volt on the label.

There is a chart around here somewhere that lists the GE motors and what you can expect performance wise when hooked up to either 36 or 48 volts and different amp controllers. If I can find it I will post a link or the chart.

Thanks for the info. I was unaware that they are the same motor.

here is a link to another thread talking about this motor and in it the chart i was talking about. the d395 is not on the chart, but it will give you an idea of 36 vs 48 and what it will do.
