Short Burst / Turbo Power - Series Cart
Forgive my ignorance, I don't know if this has been talked about before. I didn't find anything using the forum search.
If +V = +RPM in a series motor, can I just add a 12V "boost battery" wired into the 48V pack with a relay/contactor so that if I flip the switch it's like adding nitrous oxide? Sometimes you just want go a little faster for a short period of time. I understand it is impractical from a charging standpoint, but I wonder if this really would give me any more speed or is the added weight going to negate any increase in rpm. Or would the stock 300A controller just blow up? Or would the arcing from switching contacts under load just be catastrophic? |

Stock controller-stock voltage.
Adding more voltage will most likely result in a fried controller. |
