Default Club Car 98' HD Solenoid not clicking

So cart has been runnning great, new Altrax 48500 controller, HD F&R switch, HD Solenoid. Today the wife took the cart out, no problems at all, I had no problems over the weekend either. Tonight I tried to go on a ride with my son, cart wont move in F or R. When I press the throttle down, the solenoid isn't making that loud click like it normally does.

Not sure what the issue is here, what to look for or what even happened! any advice

The solenoid has to have 48v + & - on the 2 small posts to close the solenoid in. Check that and see if you have it. If you do, jump the large posts on the solenoid (have the cart jacked up first) and then if it works you solenoid has failed.

I'm fairly new here but I would check to make sure you have power on the low amp wires on the controller. Sounds like the rest of your major components are new so I'm thinking your v glide or the micro switch inside of it may be worn? To check for function out of the v glide find the small green and red wire on your controller and unplug them. Insert the probes of your multimeter one in each and with the meter set to ohms watch the reading as you depress the pedal. Should have 0-5k or vise versa. Check that and let me know what you come up with.

The solenoid I got from ScottyB about two weeks ago, only ran the cart a few times since the hurricane Irma came through Florida. I'm thinking it isn't the solenoid, but for some reason it isn't getting the power. If my cart batteries are low, can that cause it to not engage?

Your batteries would have to be almost dead to not close in the solenoid. But no matter what, you still have to have voltage present as described to close it in. No power to the coil, no close-in for current flow. It is an easy check with your volt meter and if there is a problem, give scottyb a call and he will back it or give you a different way to test something else.

My buddy is going to come over tomorrow to hook it up the meter. He thinks maybe the micro switch. On a 98 club car, where is that, inside that box by the batteries up front?

You do have some there and if you have a v-glide there is one there, too. Find your carts wiring diagram here to be sure of what you are looking for (except your modifications) http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-diagrams.html

Guys helped me sort my CC DS (2000). Here's the check list from Sergio which is simple and helped me find a bad Microswith in my potentiometer.

Tonight I ran a bunch of tests. It turns out the solenoid only engages now when it is shorted. When we shorted it it clicked, lights on controller checked out good and when throttle is pressed the cart worked no problems. I have a altrax 48500 , hd f&r and a hd solenoid all from Scotty B.

Is there a fix for this? I've used the golf cart about 7 times since the install.
