I've always used the 470s from radio shack and they work perfectly. The electrical engineers at Club Car actually suggested this since they are more readily available. They are sold out of these on radioshack.com but I found them here...

Disregard I found them. Radio shack does have a 500 ohm 1/2 watt resistor on their website would that work?

I'd be leery of using the 500s. The actual resistance reading on the resistors I've checked on Excel cars in the past range from 460-467. The 470s will work perfectly. I've done it over 100 times.

David, You gave him the wrong link, that one is for a 470kΩ resistor.

Here is another option for 1% tolerance resistor:

Here is another option for the cheaper 5% tolerance resistors, You can just measure them until You find the ones closer to 453Ω:

It is not an "issue", You purchased the wrong Controller for Your cart so the only way to make it work is to change your harness in order to be compatible.

You can sell that Controller and purchase a Controller for an IQ cart and all You would have to do is to plug it in.

I was a Service Manager at a Club Car dealer before I started my own business. I worked there for 15 years. Often, we'd have piles and piles of used Excel controllers but no IQ controllers. If we had a customer with a bad IQ controller who didn't want to spend the money on a new one we'd modify his wire harness to make one of our used Excel controllers work. I still do the same thing quite often today. Excel controllers tend to pile up quicker than IQ controller these days since most of the newer cars are equipped with Excel. Nearly every time I install an Alltrax, I'll acquire a good used Excel controller.
