offset spring shackles

my 1999 club car has straight shackles. I was watching a lift kit install video and that cart had offset shackles are they needed for extra tire clearance or will i be alright with the ones that are on there now. i haven't picked a tire/wheel combo yet or the lift kit yet....lay it on me....Thanks

All electric club car DS vehicles had straight shackles until 2006. In 2006, the frame was altered a bit when they began using 12 volt batteries instead of 8 volt batteries. When the 12 volt cars ceased production, they kept the new frame and modified the current frame to use 8 Volts, therefore keeping the offset shackles as well. All gas DS cars have always had off-set shackles.

Thank you, so I shouldn't have tire clearance issues with straight shackles then

The length of the off-set shackles and the straight shackles are the same. One doesn't give you any more clearance than the other.

Thanks Dave, I wanted to make sure I had all the correct parts before I take this thing apart. I haven't made up my mind on the lift kit yet still doing my homework
