After all that I think it is easier to just fabricate the mount like most of you guys have done. The more I look at them and plan it out the easier it is getting compared to the alternative. How do you get a good pivot point? Is there a special spacer to insert so that it moves freely yet is still a tight joint? (circled in pic)

I would buy a 1/4 20 shoulder bolt. Any good hardware store should have them.

The pic i posted shows the pot rotated down slightly, to get proper reading,and the rod is extended all the way out.

I'm going to fiddle with the angle of the box first like you suggested but I've also been working on my backup plan.
