Default Where to start when picking new motor?

I have a 2015 Precedent. I have added a 500 amp controller, 400 amp solenoid, 2 gauge cables and new batteries (Crown 190’s).

It has stock wheels and tires now but will be adding a 6 inch lift and 23inch tall wheel/tire combo over the next week or so. (Should be delivered tomorrow)

I am waiting to see how it handles (speed and torque) once I get the wheels/tires installed to see where I really think improvements can be made. It is 99% street in my neighborhood with maybe 1% in yards and hard trails.

I know I want to add a new motor of some sort but wanted to ask a fairly generic question about where do you start when picking a new motor for your cart???? Lots of companies out there. And I am not familiar enough yet to instinctively know what some of the advertised info means.

Being in Florida it should be pretty flat driving. If so, I suggest the Plum Quick motor, if you need lots of torque, D&D may be the way to go.

well once you figure out what you will need more speed or more torque , then comes how much you want to spend ...

up to $300 nice Plum Quick bandit re-build or $700 and get a custom made one from PQ

I know TahowDawg (http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com)& Scottyb (http://www.cartsunlimited.net/) both have motors about some where in the middle

Yep, basically flat driving with an occasional little hill.

A nice motor at the right price is Admiral MOT-A2 for this cart, you won't get sticker shock. Be sure to get and install the A2 map in your speed control.

Couldn't agree more, Scotty! The one you sent me is perfect!

The main question is how fast do you really want it to go. I'm getting 26-27 out of my stock motor with the upgraded map from Alltrax (I forget what the map file is called). But it was a noticeable improvement over the generic stock motor map in both acceleration and top speed. I'm on the fence as to even bother changing the motor at this point. I can't see spending the $$ on a motor just to go from 27 to 30.

I’m getting 24 mph now with the stock motor and stock tires. That’s setting max of 6000 rpm. Would like to see how the 23 inch tires impact mph and torque. I would like to be closer to 30 to be able to keep up with and get out of the way of traffic on a couple local roads. But that isn’t imperative.

I am not sure what the gear ratio is on a 2015, most older ones are in the 12:1 range. Using the speed calculator under the quick links tab above, with 18 inch tires, running 24 mph, and a gear ratio of 12:1 you are running about 5400 rpm. If your stock motor can achieve the same 5400 rpm with 23 inch tires, you would be about 30mph. Now all of this is theory, doesn't count for weight on cart, wind, hills etc. And I'm not sure you will be able to turn the same 5400 rpm with added mass of 23 inch tires.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I imagine it wouldn't be able to do quite the same with just the stock motor. But we'll see. I hope to have the lift installed over the weekend and will see how she does.
