1997 Club Car Slow moving
I have a 1997 electric club car that goes very slow. I have 50 volts out of the batteries, also 50 volts at A1 and A2 at the motor. When I accelerate the voltage drops real low at A1 and A2 is this normal or do I have a bad motor. The batteries are all good. Can someone steer me in the right direction.

Re: 1997 Club Car Slow moving
This if pretty low for a entire 48Volt Battery pack.
After complete charge , wait 1 hour , then Check each Battery seperate . read http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-readings.html |

Re: 1997 Club Car Slow moving
Thanks for the reply. I pulled the batteries out and put them in my 2002 club car and the 02 works fine. I did not charge the batteries before the 50 volt reading. The 97 works but very slow, in reverse it is even worse.

Re: 1997 Club Car Slow moving
So I guess we need some history ?
Was the 97 always Very slow, Did you just purchase it, when did it change. Define Very slow , do you have a GPS you can test this on. And it only uses part of the Battery pack/Voltage in reverse , so this is normal ! |

Re: 1997 Club Car Slow moving
I just got into golf carts. All my carts I recently got with no history. The 97 came with the batteries so I charged them and it worked, I would guess it goes around 10 mph, I figured it was slow because the batteries could be low. I just got the 02 with no batteries so I figured put the batteries from the 97 in the 02 and there is no comparison between the 2 carts. If you try to go over the soft lawn with the 97 in reverse it is so slow it won`t move , the 02 moves fine in both forward and reverse. I used my friends yamaha 36 volt last summer and know what it can due, the 02 goes just as good or better. The 97 on the other hand has no torque or speed like the other two have.

Re: 1997 Club Car Slow moving
If the 02 is a IQ cart it could be set at speed code 3 .
read http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...olf-carts.html to determin what you have. 9-12 mph is normal for the DS carts without Mods. |

Re: 1997 Club Car Slow moving
campcar your reverse is only hook up to part of your battery pack like gmorrison said so it not going to have the same torque in rev. but you can hook it up to entire pack if you want

Re: 1997 Club Car Slow moving
i am a newbie to this but i do have a 36 volt with the reverse wired like yours look at the foward reverse switch and see if one of the cables is hooked to one of the middle battery s and a jumper between them two, if so you need to run it to the end of the pack which will require a longer cable but double check with one of the experts before wiring anything hope i could help
