Default Maximum tire size for non lifted cart?

I’m sure this has been asked a hundred times, but I’ve only seen it for EZ GO.

What’s the maximum size tire I can put on a 2004 Club Car DS without lifting it?

Thanks
Luke

I wouldn't go any more than 19" diameter. Try turning the steering full to lock, either direction and look at how close the tire is to rubbing the vertical braces behind the forward footboard. Now imagine some suspension movement from hitting a bump or having some weight on the cart. Not much extra room there. If the tire bites the frame in the middle of a turn it will rip the wheel out of your hands. Could cause a crash, broken thumbs, all kinds of nastiness.

Makes sense. It’s not like an EZ GO where you can go up a little. Thanks.

On my cart, see avatar, I have 12x7 wheels with 3:4 offset and 215/40-12 tires. It required this leaf spring spacer to give me complete clearance for them. They are 18.5" tall at 20# air pressure. It still would rub slightly on a full right turn, which could only be done at crawl speed anyway. Meimk is probably right about the 19" fitting, but they would rub on full slow tight maneuvering turns, especially without the 1/2" spacer, but probably not the rest of the time.

The trouble with the spacer, for me anyway is that it increases the neg camber and makes your cart look like it has knobby knees.

No offense PingEye3, but the question was on a ‘04 DS. They are similar, but there are some differences between DS & Precedent

Soooo, I have a 2004 DS, and want to put on new tires and wheels. the wheels I am looking at are 10", tires are 205/50/10, but I don't know if they will rub. I believe they have an 18"height, but not sure about width problem. My cart is absolutely stock.

Any help?

I have 10 inch wheels on my 2004 DS with the same size tire and have no problems. They are about the same diameter as stock tires.

I recently installed 14" wheels with low pro tires on my 86 CC DS. The overall tire diameter came to 21" when fully inflated. To mitigate rubbing I used (as many have suggested) a 1" lift block in between the leaf and the plate in the front. This eliminated any rubbing in the front.

The back was another story. Any weight on the cart or bumps caused the outside edge of the tire to rub on the rear fender well. Again, as many have suggested I had some longer rear shackles fabbed with holes at 6" and 7" center to center. After replacing all my rear leaf bushings I re-installed the shackles using the 6" hole and have not had any issues rubbing in the rear. The whole solution cost me less than $40.

Hope that helps, see pics for reference.
