Hey guys I’m new here, and I’m new to the golf car world. I recently purchased a 2007 club car precedent 48v cart and revamped everything. I installed a D&D motor and alltrax speed control, 14” wheels and 23” tires, 6” lift, new body kit, upgraded wiring to 4 gauge and so on. Currently I have the 4 12v setup and I have put 32 series AGM batteries in it. My question is can I add one or two more batteries to make the system 60v or 72v. Cart currently only goes 20 mph and that’s on flat ground. It really slows down on the hills, I’d like it to go at least 25mph and do a lot better on the hills. Also if this can be done I’m assuming I need a new voltage reducer for lights and such. I just bought the four new batteries so getting another two would be ideal opposed to starting over again. I’ve been told you guys are the Wikipedia of golf carts so I’m hoping I haven’t asked a dumb question to start out

If you have the Alltrax XCT then the max voltage it can handle is 60. I was getting 27mph with an XCT48500 on the stock batteries and motor.

Email Alltrax and they will send you a better field map for the stock motor if you are running the generic field map. If your batteries are good you should definitely get more than 20 out of it on 23” tires.

When I went to 58v lithium setup, I didn’t change the reducer and it’s holding up fine.

Also, what do you have the controller settings at? When going 27 with the lead acid batteries I had the motor amps at 375-400 and rpm limit at 5,600

I already got the custom maps from alltrax, it really only goes about 20 on flat ground and slows to about 8-9mph on hills. And what your says is I should be able to add one more battery and not have to so much worry about burning anything up as far as my 12v accessories? That’s pretty cool. I can’t seem to get past 200 volts on when driving and monitoring, by chance could I have a bad power wire as far as connections?

Most reducers can handle up to 60 volts. You could add a battery but you need to make sure you have a charger that can charge the additional 8 or 12 volts you add.

Also make sure you’ve upgraded your wiring to 2 gauge between batteries and controller/solenoid.

I have 2ga welding wire on every high voltage cable. From a dead stop my stock motor will peak at about 375 amps for maybe 2 seconds then drops to about 180 until I get to full speed.

Htown also has a good point about the charger. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 60v charger for acid batteries. But I never really looked either

One more thing I have the oem F/R switch, do I need to upgrade that as well?
