97 Ds Club Cart 48 Volt
Hi guy's , Well I fixed the guide ring on my 48 volt motor nice and quiet now. Ok here is my new question . Before I new you could replace the guide ring I bought a used 48 volt motor 3.75 hp special service club cart motor of E-bay . I had a 48 volt 3.1 hp club cart motor on my cart . Which motor would be better for this cart ? will the 3.75 hp give this cart a little more speed and torque or would I be better off using the 3.1 hp. Both of these motor I had to replace the guide rings on. I have the 3.75 hp in the cart now, seems to go ok but not much climbing power. Would I notice any difference with the 3.1 in there, also is a 250 amp stock controller ok to use with a 3.75 . Here I go again I just can not leave it alone. Thanks everyone

Re: 97 Ds Club Cart 48 Volt
My neighbor who is also Butterface on here, recently upgraded his stock cart with a 480 A controller and 4 gauge cables all around, and it made a huge difference in the way the cart ran. the pulling power and torque really increased substantially and there was even a gain in the top end. I honestly think you would be much happier with a bigger controller, new cables and then swap the motors in and out to get the right combination. He used a BU controller but there are also cheaper controllers on Ebay called Logitech or something similiar that seem to be holding up OK according to posts.

In a lot of cases these motors are so easy to pop in and out .
3 Bolts , + the 4 wires. Why not just pop the 3.75 in and see what you think. And as Ox said you can't go wrong upgrading to #4 cables , does not matter which motor U use. |

seriously, try both motors and see what you get from each one, but if you really want to see a difference upgrade the controller and you will be amazed at the difference. It is a night and day difference between the controller change. Don't forget though if you upgrade the controller you will probably have to put in a heavy duty solenoid to keep up with the amperage. Good Luck!! |

Re: 97 Ds Club Cart 48 Volt
Hi guy's is there a adjustment for speed on a 97 ds club cart ? My 97 cart with new battries is slower than my 85 36 volt club cart . I have replaced the 3.1 hp with a used 3.75 hp motor in the 48 volt cart but this cart is a dog. I thought the 3.1 hp motor was bad because of the clicking noise so I bought a used 3.75, After talking to you all I found out it was just the guide ring so I never had a chance to try out the 3.1 hp motor. Does the 3.75 require a bigger than stock 250 amp controller to work properly. When I get the new guide ring from BU I wiill swap out the motors to see if this will help. Someone said keep the 3.75 hp and upgrade the cotroller to 450 amp and I will see a big difference. Sounds good to me does anyone have a good 450 amp controlletr they would like to sell cheap, im up for that. Thanks guy's
