Default Help, need to slow down my club car.

Good morning folks,

Just picked up a 2006 club car (48 volt). It will run just over 40mph but has absolutely no bottom end power. I'm new to golf carts so please feel free to educate me. From what i understand it has a much larger motor as well as much taller gears. I assume the gears are my issue. My goal is simply to get my bottom end power back. I'd like to keep 25mph (or faster) in the mean time.

When i say this cart has no bottom end, it will not climb 10' ramps in to the back of a pickup without assistance.

Thank you,
Sam

Let me start by saying that this will probably be the only time anyone on this forum ever reads a headline like this. Help, need to slow down my club car. Now on to the serious stuff, it would really help if you could identify what you have in it for upgrades, check the controller make and model, the motor size and manufacturer, if you can identify these parts it will give the people here a better chance of helping you out.

Tall gears. This cart is built for one thing = top speed, and you want something else.
You may have bought the wrong cart. This one has been modified for top speed at the expense of sacrificing the torque or power. To fix this you will have to change the gearing back to stock. But first lets look at all of the drive system components and see if you will get the results desired.
What motor?
What sped controller?
What serial #?

Looks like a very nice cart. It does sound like it's got some pretty tall gears in it. Tires appear a little larger than stock, but not much. Did previous owner give any hint as to what gear ratio was put in it?

Thank you for the quick response. Thought the title would get some attention haha.

What's the easiest way to see what i'm working with? isn't there an access panel below the rear seat? I apologize, i'm new to this.

See if you can get some background information on exactly what gear set was installed in the cart in addition to all of the requested information above. Once we know what we're working with we'll know how to help you fix the issue. If you've got 6:1 gears in it, it may be as simple as swapping them out with factory gears.

Unfortunately I won’t have any way of getting a parts list. It was a product of a retiree with too much money. She’s since moved up north.

The cart is very much driveable but I sure would like the bottom end power.

Do I need to gain access by pulling the batteries or is there a way to get to the motor a different route?

Thank you.

What a nice looking cart. And welcome.. I cant help you will your question but I know these guys can. Im trying too get more speed with mine but it also doesnt hardly ever leave the road. Are you using it in real hiily terrain? I have never been a fan of loading or unloading carts in pickups so i got a small utility trailer that does fine. Again thats a sharp cart.

Thank you Donnie. I'm not a fan of using ramps period. I was racing motocross a few years ago (i'm only 25) and even then i refused to use them. In this specific case it was a great deal but a couple hours away, didn't want to haul a trailer all that way.

No real hilly terrain, but i'm afraid if i load up with four adults and a cooler it is going to struggle.

i'm about to upload some photos, maybe you guys can tell me what to look for
