Default question

stock club car precedent, what is more efficient running a large motor at half throttle or a stock motor at full throttle?

Depends on the controller you have running the cart and the settings of said controller. The throttle simply tells the controller how much percentage of maximum amperage to send to motor. Big or stock motor simply converts that amperage into motion. Larger motors can handle more amperage and give you greater use of the power, but efficiency between the two motors is hard to determine without more information and what you mean by efficient.

Ok iam looking at two club car precedents, both 15s both with new batts both with stock controllers 250 amp, one has the stock motor 3.3 hp and the othe has a d an d tourque and speed motor about 9 hp, also both are set to speed code 4 Iam looking at both but i want my new cart to give me the longest run time between charges, and with new community rules i wont be going over 20 mph,so guess what iam asking should i go with the stock one and run it flat out or the big motor one and run it at a slow speed?

Gotcha. So the D&D motor will have more torque available to you. In other words it has a larger capacity to do more work with the electricity sent to it. I would guess that if both carts were exactly identical and you ran them in a distance race, the one with the D&D may not get as much “mileage”. However, if you are ever concerned at all with the ability to upgrade or the need for more torque, the D&D is the option you want.

If it were me and the Cost was negligible, I’d go with the D and D.
