Default 95 club car slow uphill

Hello everyone, I'm new to the golf cart world. Just purchased a 1995 48v club car ds. I was told it had newer batteries when I purchased it from seller (they are Trojan 8v.) My problem is the cart is running slow up hill. I've tested each battery while sitting and all of them read between 8.37-8.5. I also tested while going up an incline and each battery is at 7.5 at first push off pedal and settles in at 7.8-7.9 on incline. Each battery reads 8.1-8.2 while driving on flat surface. Do I have a battery issue or is this normal for this series cart. I've already spoken with PQ about a 36v upgrade motor, hopefully that will help. Thanks for help in advance.

Batt volts looks good
Not a performance machine though, a golf course cart.
I replaced the #6 cables with #4 welding cable
That helped

Got a 36v motor , that really pepped it up & no trouble on hills now.

There are
Other ways to up performance, new controller, motor, FNR. Solenoid
From some of the site's sponsors

Thanks Golferdave. I was hoping it wasn't a battery issue. Read bats this am after a full charge and they were reading 9.1v. I'm getting motor redone by plum quick in a few weeks. What do I need to do to upgrade solenoid with stock controller?

I was so excited to buy a pair of 1995 48v CC when they first came off lease. And I was never more disappointed either. They run out the same as the old 36ers.
Basically with the original 225 amp controller and the stock 48v motor it is strictly a moderate course cart.
Performance upgrades for this series cart begin with an Alltrax 400-500amp controller, 200-400 amp solenoid, a HD F&R, and 4-2g cable set.... The motor is not worth investing in either. With 2 way shipping you will be into the OEM 3 hp motor for 2/3rds the cost of a new Admiral MOT-A1 8 hp performance motor

My 2010 Precedent stock motor went bad replaced with a high speed motor but the shop did not upgrade the senolid or the controller. Now it pulls hills very slowly from a standing start and it seems the batteries run down much faster than similar carts with standard motors. Do I need to match the motor to an upgraded controller? And replace the senolid to improve this power issue?

High speed motor doesn't tell us anything. You need to provide a model number for the motor.

I live local where plum quick is located so I will not be paying shipping. He said he would make it a 36v motor? Is it still not worth investing in? That's all I plan to do for now to it. Don't have much play money with 2 kids under 2 lol. I'm just looking for a little more speed, not trying to be fastest cart in town. Thanks for your advise and for parts list as I may do those upgrades in future.

Makes sense. Also forgot to mention it's 48 volt. The motor is a D&D Motor Systems model 170-506-0002, serial number 6426, mfg date 11/11/15, rating Class H, and it also is marked A1F1.

Golfbag, You should upgrade to a higher amperage controller and solenoid to put that motor to work. I would recommend Alltrax XCT500. Not my personal experience but a lot of people say that a motor with that HP will soon destroy a stock controller.

Golf Bag it is bad forum etiquette to highjack another's thread for you own benefit. Please start your own thread where we can help you without interruption until your small amperage supply problem is solved. Thank you

That does make it a much more favorable move. No shipping saves $60-100.00
and a 36vv motor will give good results so long as you are okay with a small horsepower motor. In your situation I think this is a good option. Good Luck
