Default Any difference or preference between DS or Precedent around the 2007 year?

I had a late 90's or early 2000's Club Car DS 48V that I lifted and enjoyed a few years ago. I foolishly sold it when I purchased a Kawasaki Mule (mistake) and now I am looking to pick up another electric Club Car. I am searching the used market and finding DS's or Predecent's that are around 2005 or 2007 models with no lift, no back seat, no lights, etc. but 3 year old batteries for around $1700. I performed all of the upgrades on my last cart and plan on doing them again.

Knowing that price range and relative same feature set is there any reason I should pick a DS over a Precedent if they are around the same year? I was thinking of going with a Precedent because they look newer and I assume there are some sort of mechanical advantages of a newer design. I only plan on lights, tires, backseat, and possibly a lift. I really have no desire to make it faster. Thanks for the help!

I have a Precedent an enjoy it. I have never worked on a DS but have been told it's easier than the Precedent. Al I can say that the Precedent has been almost stupid easy but that may be more about mechanical ability, dunno.

Tahoedog will probably post at some point but I remember him saying the Precedents are a stronger cart with a much tougher frame. That will probably depend how you are going to use it. Lastly, I think it goes to which look you like. I like the Precedent a little more but the DS does have a little more room on the seat.

Electronically speaking, they're going to be the same. They both have the IQ drive system. A 2007 model cart, regardless whether it's a Precedent or a DS, will more than likely have the 4x12 Volt battery configuration unless it's already been converted to 6x8volts. If it's not been converted, I strongly advise it. As for the remaining components of the car, it really boils down to which one you like the best. For me, I pick the Precedent every time. I can refurbish 3 Precedents in the same amount of time it takes to build one DS. When you're in the business of selling carts, time is money. The Precedent has a stronger frame as well. The box frame is much stronger than I-beam and it doesn't have near as many welds to crack like the DS does. DS cars are infamous for breaking welds. The Precedent only has 2 welded places on the entire frame. The shock mounts and the spring hanger mounts. With all this being said, one is just as good as the other as long as you don't run into anything or flex the frame enough to break welds. As a neighborhood cruiser they'll both hold up fine.

This is all very helpful information -- thank you. I am surprised by the frame changes. I always thought my DS was a bit more flexible when going over bumps then I would have liked.
