Driving on the beach

Hey I am thinking about taking my lifted club car to the beach and using it on the beach in the sand. We are going to the outter banks for the week of April 4rth and I am thinking about taking it. Has anyone taken theirs out in the soft sand? Mine is electric and I don't know if the sand will create too much resistance and not move.

1. Depending on which area of the Outer Banks U are going to, depends on whether U will get to take the cart on the beach. Many do not allow any type of Vehicles on the beech.
2. If it is stock Tires, then as long as the sand is firm it should go !

We are going to Corova Beach above Corolla. We take 4 wheelers there all the time but I have never taken my cart. I am running 22" sand tires with 6" of lift. the cart was a 36 volt converted to a 48 volt.

Same question from me. I'm running a CC IQ on level 3, with 6 inches of lift and 23" Carlisle All Trails. Im considering taking it on a beach trip this summer to the Texas Coast.

Before I restored the cart in signature we drove carts lifted and stock on the beach all the time. It is the easiest way to get to an from your cabin and around the editions.
Now that my project cart has been complete it has made several trips to Crystal Beach, TX .
I have a few inches of lift with 23" Desert Durro Tires. It does very well in all types of sand and I have never felt that we were almost stuck no matter what the load was.
Throughout the years I have found that a stock cart will get the job done but can have a few issues when coming from an edition to the beach entrance if the sand is deep and powder like. It seems the tires would only start spinning because of high centered on ruts etc.
When you are done for the weekend and it is time to load up your cart and go home clean your cart off good and even spray a baking soda water mixture on batteries wires, trays etc to remove and prevent corosion
Do not spray your cart down with WD-40, Corrosion X, or even T9 as the sand and salt will just stick to it and be extremely hard to remove.
This goes for your tires too. I know the Armorall looks good but everything will just stick to it.

Well we got down here last saturday from a 8 hour drive after sitting on rt 64 from a fatality accident for 2 hours. Checked in at Twiddy and headed for the house on the beach up in the 4wd drive area. We exited the road and Jeff lead the way with our 4 vehicle caravan pulling trailers on each vehicle with our 4 wheelers and my golf cart. We got about 500 yards down the beach and Jeff was pulled over by the local Sherif. I pulled around everyone to see why he was pulled over. I found out we were all being pulled over for are atvs which were loaded on the trailers. He told us they were illegal here in Curituck County on the beaches. If caught riding them there was a $175.00 fine and A NIGHT IN JAIL! The deputy then told us we had to turn around and take them off the beach. We explained to him that they would just stay on the trailer and they would not be breaking any laws and would remain on the trailers. He called me a lyer and that everyone else states that too! He has caught many people he has let through in the past and he was not allowing anyone with a 4 wheeler to access the beach to get to their houses unless they had a permit and they owned the house in Curituck County! I asked him what we were suposed to do since we had just spent our whole day driving down here and not to mention thousands of dollars for a week rental. He said the local towing company was the only place to get storage. He charges $100.00 per day per vehicle. Sounds like something is crooked here doesn't it? Now I know he has gone over board whith his power of Authority and I didn't want to spend a night in Jail on my vacation just because he wanted to be an ***! We headed back to the rental company and asked them when this took effect since years past we had never had a problem with ATVs on the beach. they said it was new this year. It would have been nice to be told when renting the house! I asked them if they had a place we could keep the vehicles for the week and they said sure in the parking lot but they have had stuff taken from there in the past and they would not be responsible. Jeff went next door to a guy who had 8 golf carts in his driveway and aked him if we could store our stuff there for a small fee. He said sure since he was not open for bussiness yet for the season. The guy was pretty cool and said just get me some beer and that would be good enough.

We unloaded the trailers and then headed back onto the beach. We got almost to the house driving through deep soft sand and big puddles and I could see the house. I had a familly friend behind me in a rental 2008 Grand Cherokee who decided to go straight through the center of one of the puddles and suck a bunch of water into his engine causing the engine to stall. when he was able to get it restarted the engine developed a loud engine knock. He had destroyed the engine 500 feet from the house. I towed the jeep down the beach for 9.5 miles in the sand on my car trailer to get him back on to the hardpack so he could be towed back to the rental company for another vehicle. They never questioned what happened and replaced his vehicle. he got very lucky! Anyways we are still here now having a great time and I will post some pictures soon! Hope all is well with everyone!

The worst thing was there was a state trooper standing right next to him when this all went down and he never once stepped in either. I did call but no one would return any of my calls.

There was a good side to all of this . We meet a cool dude who owned a tour company "COAST CART TOURS" His name is Jeff O'brien. He allowed us to keep the 2 4 wheelers and my golf cart there at his place for a case of beer. What a deal! I stopped in on thursday and I was talking with Jeff about looking for a top for my golf cart and he said he had one if I wanted it. It was the deal of a lifetime. It came with all the hardware and an over head console and sterio and speakers along with a tinted windsheild. They are valued at about $600.00 for everything and I PICKED IT ALL UP FOR $60.00! Jeff really hooked me up so if you guys ever make it down that way stop buy and check his place out.

That really sucks that your whole trip was based around wheeling your ATV's at the beach and then Buford T. Justice shut ya'll down. I would be very dissapointed/pissed. I hope you have a great vacation, despite all the drama.
