Default 1986 Club Car DS Wheels and Tires

I'm trying to clean up an 86 ds, and was wondering what size wheel tire combos I can use on a stock height cart that won't rub too much? only on-road use, occasional sandy yards but no mud or hunting. thanks in advance for your help.

I'd keep it under 20" total diameter with no lift. The bigger the wheel, the less sidewall you'll have. IMHO 10" wheels would look good and give a bit more than 12".

Hey Charles, welcome to the obsession!

Ecaldwell is right....20" and under you should have no rubbing problems (assuming stock suspension, etc).

I just went through this with my 86 CC DS. Ended up with 14" wheels on 225-30-14 tires. Overall the diameter was around 21". I ended up with a 1" lift block in the front and longer shackles in the rear to get rid of the rub. Works like a charm and the cart looks great!

See my build thread for additional details and pics! Post #17 has all the wheel info. --->http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/membe...s-build-2.html

Good luck and keep us updated!

Charles,

Here are a couple of pics of a 96 DS we fixed up for a neighborhood cruiser.

The tires and rims are "takeoffs" from a new Yamaha and are 205/65/10"
The Cragar "SS" mags are just hubcaps, but do look pretty nice.
The body has the above mentioned 1" lift block and longer rear shackles.
They are both readily available for less than $ 100 total, and are easy to install.
It not only eliminates any rubbing issues, but I think it improves the handling as well.

And by the way.... WELCOME !!!

Tex. Do I see wheel spacers? That DS is what I'm shooting for. Love keeping the DS look but still having the upgrades.

FSU,

No on the wheel spacers... the wheels and tires are stock Yamaha take-offs..
205/65/10's.. I get them from a "Custom" Golf Cart shop near me.
They may have a slightly different backspace than the old 8" wheels.

Ill check tomorrow, and update with specs.

BTW Gator bait !! (UF grad)

Well, I'm surprised !!!

Just checked the new Yami 10" wheels and the stock CC 8"...

Stock CC depth..from back of bolt hole flange to outer rim 5 "

Stock Yamaha depth...same measurement 3 1/2"

So that give us 1 1/2" offset "out"...

Good eye FSU !!

Here is a couple of links where you can find the lift blocks and shackles..
(do look at your rear shackles before ordering..straight or offset)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Club-Car-DS....c100005.m1851

Hope this info helps !!!
