CC DS Sparks from forward reverse switch

I had a similar problem in the past where even with the key off when I put in either forward or reverse the motor would engage and cart would move slowly.
I replaced the solenoid and it worked great for a couple of months.
Now it is doing that again but with a new bonus, the forward reverse switch sparks and smokes when put in forward. I can hear the solenoid clicking on and off when I press and release the pedal.
Should I be looking to replace the forward reverse switch?
The cart is a 1990 DS 36 volt with no modifications.

Absolutely positively. Check with one of the site sponsors to be sure you get a quality replacement.

It sounds like another welded solenoid. Even with the key off it's trying to pass amps as soon as the forward and reverse contacts touch, because the solenoid is stuck closed, which is why you're getting sparks. Definitely replace solenoid with a quality one. The arcing will cause damage to the forward and reverse switch eventually.

Thanks I'm having the same problem. Always power to switch rather key on or off. And wheels want to turn slow b4 I got the pedal
