Technically all solid state speed controller drive systems should have the pre-charge resistor and voltage spike arresting diode. Although many were sold without. Some solenoids and controllers have these things built in. Putting a diode on when the controller or solenoid has a built in diode is no harm. Putting a pre-charge resistor on a controller that has another internal method of pre-charge may throw a fault code.
Most CC solenoids that had built in diodes have a red + sign indicating which small post is positive. I hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a regen 2 drive system. You should have two solenoids on that cart. The one on the passenger side is the main one. I don't think you need a resistor or diode on it. The one on the drivers side is for dynamatic braking it has a coil resistor on it. I think they are the same part number.

"AC" is a regen 2. In factory configuration, the solenoid didn't have a diode, nor a resistor.
