Turn Signal Issues
Hello all,
I am putting this in a separate thread, because it is a generic question, and not unique to my Caroche Sport Coupe build. I have a new Signal Stat 900 signal switch, with LED parking and tail lights. All my headlight parking light and tail lights work, but my signal lights do not, they turn on but will not blink. Attached is the wiring diagram I am using: http://eidetec.com/yankee-wire-diagram# And I am using a Novita EP35 3 wire electronic flasher which claims it is for LED, incandescent or mixture of both. Do you have any ideas what my problem might be? Thank you, Aflyer |

Re: Turn Signal Issues
That flasher does not go with that wiring diagram as an electronic flasher requires a negative.
Tab #49 = +12v power |

Re: Turn Signal Issues
Sergio,
Thank you for the quick response, I looked at the **** flasher and the - on tab 31 didn't register. Thanks for helping me read and comprehend. "Tab #49 = +12v power Tab #31 = Negative Tab #49a = Blue (pilot) and Yellow (lights) wires from switch" Is there a correct flasher for me to buy? I did read last night that there are "no load" flashers, and the one I bought says variable load. Or should I just add a ground to the #31 tab and wire load and pilot together to the 49A tab? Thanks again, Aflyer |

Yes, that will work (no load = variable load = incandescent and/or LED). The "no load" usually means a relay type device is used instead of depending on the load current to create a "timing" circuit. |

Re: Turn Signal Issues
Sergio,
Hi, I made the changes per the diagram and the problems are mostly solved. The signal lights and 4 way flashers work great. The only issue I have now is that the pilot light does not come on. I pulled it apart and the bulb is good, then checked for ground to the turn signal switch, and that is whats missing. So I could run a ground to the chassis, LOL, but no that would not be right. I will just run a small ground wire to the signal switch body. All is well that ends well. Thank you a bunch for your help, Aflyer |

Re: Turn Signal Issues
You got it, the pilot light needs a negative to turn ON which I did not see on that diagram either.
I guess it would work a on Gas cart since the negative is on the frame... I wonder if they make those Turn Signal switches for electric carts where the negative is isolated to its on wire on the harness connector. |

Re: Turn Signal Issues
Sergio,
That is a great question, but I never saw anything in any of the listings about the housing being grounded VS not. I did however buy it at NAPA, instead of through a golf car parts supplier. No big deal, I think I can hide it, but I guess I will also have to insulate the TS switch from the steering column so I don't end up grounding the whole chassis. Aflyer |
