I remember some that had a set up for the 1/2 speed reverse and then some that had to do with dynamic braking, but I know Sergio and scottyb have referenced them before and they will see this soon and know for sure. (It should be a regen cart)

Those earlier Regen carts were plagued with problems.

The Regen 1 and 2 systems were 'failed' systems. Both were abandoned after very little production.
If the cart needs more than a switch or solenoid the best option for these carts is conversion to series or IQ drive in my opinion.

Assuming the batteries measure the correct voltage (approx 50 volts for charged pack) and there are no obvious broken wires or poor connections (pull plugs apart - clean with spray contact cleaner - reconnect) - then you have a bit more complex/difficult troubleshooting to do!

Does the charger come on when plugged in and charge the batteries correctly?

Those Regen 1 and 2 carts (especially if the controller has failed) are generally "rewired" to use a more modern (IQ) wire harness and controller, once those electronics start failing....oops....I type slower than Scotty obviously.
