Enough to vaporize a chunk of a 1/2" box wrench when dropped across the terminals.

As for an actual number, I can't help.

I wish they would. I figured this to be a simple question.....lol Or maybe if people knew that a standard set of 6, 8 volt bateries will only deliver 500 amps then, that would hurt sales of those larger over kill expensive controllers.........lol

No, it didnt answer the question of how many amps can a 6, 8 volt batteries deliver. They only talked about how the controller controlled how many amps the motor asks for.

How can you figure what they are capable of delivering using the battery information. I am aware of the fact that it will not be drawing it max all the time. Usually there are spikes. How do you determine how high of a spike a set of batteries can support? Example....When I have my controller ramped up and I stomp the gas to the floor looking to pull a wheelie. The motor will draw max amps until it gets moving good and the amp draw will decrease as resistence decreases because the cart is starting to travel forward faster. At the time of the most amp draw from the motor thru the controller how many amps are the batteries delivering to the controller, asumming the controller can handle how ever many amps the batteries can deliver and the motor can ask for?

Exide E-4800, 290 Min @25A, 110 Min @56A to 7.0 volts, 63 Lbs.

This is directly from Trojan's website that I pulled for my 12 volt batteries. It should give you an idea of what a battery can do based on cranking amps. You can search Trojan's site for your 6/8 volt battery information if you want a closer example.
