Club Car DS high speed motor......15 mph
I have a 2002 Club Car DS 48V. The cart has a high speed motor with an upgraded controller. When I had it installed the cart would do 25mph without larger tires. I don’t drive it as much as i use to, but I recently changed the batteries and battery cables and noticed the speed was no where close to 25mph. I went out and tested it yesterday and could only get the cart to go 15mph. Any suggestions on what to check?
Thanks |

Somehow you didn't get all the batteries in series.

Its not a 2002. Its a 2000. I was trying to identify the drive system. I can't identify the drive system by serial number in a 2000 model. Go here and let me know what system you have.... https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/d...identification Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Measure the total battery voltage with a multimeter and let us know. Did this problem show up immediately when you put batteries in it? Some pics of your battery compartment may be helpful as well.

Re: Club Car DS high speed motor......15 mph
I measured each battery with voltage readings ranging from 8.19 to 8.24 volts. The cart as (six) 8V batteries. I can’t say the problem just showed up. I just assumed the cart was slowing down because the batteries were aging. I will try and post photos of the battery compartment this evening. Thank you for your assistance and Happy Easter.

Re: Club Car DS high speed motor......15 mph - solved
Well, I feel obligated to post a resolution with the help I received. I also feel like a complete moron after finding the issue.
Since April, I have changed the batteries, changed the cables, changed brake pads, and even replaced one of the long cables on the engine (corrosion). I had washed my hands of trying to figure out why my Club Car DS refused to go faster than 15 mph. On Wednesday night, my son and I went out and played three holes to wind down. After the third hole my son said the passenger rear tire was flat. I thought I felt something so we headed home and I put air in it. Came out a few hours later and the tire was completely flat. I removed it and threw it in the back of my car and dropped it off at a tire store to be repaired. Tire store replaced the bead/seal around the rim and valve stem. I reinstalled it this morning and the new tire looked huge. I checked the tire pressure on the other three and all of them were running between 7-10 psi. Aired them all up to the recommended 30 psi and the cart now runs 25mph. So the moral of the story, other than I am an idiot, is check your tire pressure:) |
