96 DS 36 volt
As soon as solonoid clunks on. Wide open and away you go ! no speed control at all. System has not been tampered with just started on its own. Controller cart ( Not resister ) Can a controller just short and go full on ? Or should I look somewhere else?

Re: 96 DS 36 volt
It could be the throttle. Disconnect it and see if there is any change.

Re: 96 DS 36 volt
Just saying. I would jack the rear off the ground while figuring this out.

Re: 96 DS 36 volt
And something is telling the controller to go wide open so make sure you do not have an issue with your multi-step potentiometer. It may be sending that signal to the controller....

Re: 96 DS 36 volt
The issue is most likely with the Multi-Step potentiometer (VGlide).
For some unknown design reason (or lack of), those old and short lived 0-5kΩ throttle carts would default to full speed if there is a missing throttle signal. If any resistor or wire is broken between the Controller terminals #2 and #3 and the VGlide, the Controller will go full speed when you press the pedal. Put the FNR in Neutral. Remove the black and white wires from Controller terminals #2 and #3. Set your meter to 20kΩ resistance setting and measure the resistance between those 2 wires as you press the pedal. The resistance should vary between 0 and about 5,500Ω as you press the pedal. Please note that a reading of 0L on the meter means it is an open circuit (bad). |

Re: 96 DS 36 volt
I was mistaken this is a 48 volt with a controller and no black vglide box. so its multi step potentiometer.

Re: 96 DS 36 volt
No pic right now ,but it has NO VGLIDE switch between batteries and throttle pot is mounted drivers side at pedals and is black box . Cart says Powerdrive 48 on sides at bottom of rear cowl Serial #A9622********
