2002 systems explanation??
Has anyone got a simple explanation of the systems used? I know (from the pictures in the sticky threads) how to tell which is which. I want to know, in practical terms, what is the difference? Why the 2 systems on the same model and year? Both are 48 volt - I can obviously see the benefit of 48 over 36. Any info would be appreciated.

36 volt = resistor coils, copper contact speed control and f/r switch 48v series= copper contact manual f/r, efficient due to controller, but not as efficient as i.q. system.. stock speeds around 12-14 mph depending on motor installed. Good Car, series controllers are hard to blow up on accident, and a little easier to work on. 48v i.q. = most efficient, speed adjustable by dealer 8-17.5 mph stock, or about 19 with speed codes. all solid state f/r and speed control.. Only real con, is playing with these yourself its a little more sensitive to wrong wires being hooked up etc.. Why the same year and different cars? Real simple.. $$$ different levels of quality for different prices. Helps achieve bidding wars... |

Power Drive Plus diminished Club Cars ability to claim their high quality.. They redeemed themselves with the IQ...
PDP is extremely faulty, I almost never replace the original controller with a OEM, or actually I NEVER replace with OEM controller. Horrible. |
