Default power loss to motor

2000 CC DS series cart , 700 amp FSIP controller , PQ Rattlesnake II , 2ga Cable.

This all started a few weeks back and seems to come and go. I was driving along and slowed to go over a speed bump, hit the pedal, solenoid engaged and started to move and then there was a clunk and no power to the motor, off and back on the pedal and everything was fine , took off like normal. first time it happened it went 3 days before it happened again (I do 10 miles a day everyday) and then it did it 3 times in a day (always seems to be starting off or getting back on the pedal in a slow roll).

At first look I checked all the battery cable and all was fine, nothing stood out , but snugged everything up and it ran good that day. Next day I got another power drop so I went a little further. I disconnected the pack pos and neg and check all the cables to the motor , solenoid , controller and F/R and found nothing loose but again gave everything a little snugging up. Re hooked the pack pos and neg and everything was fine for the last two to three weeks. I thought it was fixed but its not , the last few day I have gotten a few .

It is so quick when it happens it hard to see what the voltmeter is reading, but I thought I saw a the meter scroll down to low 40's and shoot back up to 50 in a split second. I have fear that its the controller but with it coming and going it hard for me to pin point . Asking the site masters to lead me to what to check next . I am on vacation but have some tools with me but may be limited to what I can do with what I got.

Neighbor had a similar problem...turned out to be a shorted plate in one of the batteries that was shorting out intermittently...mostly over bumps. Finally found it by checking voltage in each battery without hold-downs and using a battery lifting strap to lift and drop (a small amount) each battery one by one with voltmeter attached until I got a flicker and got lucky and found the culprit. A very difficult problem to troubleshoot. He opted to replace all batteries as they were just over 4 years old and zero problems since then... 😎

That is something that came to mind , my Batts are 2 1/2 Trojan 875. I will give that try at some point, no strap in tool kit

I have two at home , like stayed above im on vacation and limited to supply of tools.

Also the problem doesnt need happen on a speed bump or pot hole . i can be on a smooth road slow down at a intersection and hit the pedal and have it happen.

Have you checked the resistance in your pot?

Wonder if there may be a short or loose connection for it to be fine one minute then lose power with a change in pedal position then regain power back.

Set your multimeter to 20k ohms and disconnect the two throttle wires running to your controller from the pot.

It doesn't matter which probe lead you connect to the wires just as long as they are connected.

Gradually press the go pedal while watching the multimeter to see if the resistance goes from 0 to 5k (or pretty close) the full range of the pedal. See if the numbers jump anywhere during pedal travel.

Does the solenoid drop out when the cart cuts out?
Does the controller LED shut off when the cart cuts out?
If yes to either of these the trouble may be a micro switch

the two wires would be the purple (B-) yellow (#3 Tab)
