use a little sandpaper on the connections
never worked on a resistor cart but i imagine those coils might get brittle with use and age

Just found this thread, and wanted to congratulate you on getting your Caroche running well again.
There is a lot of satisfaction in keeping these oldies on the road.
I just responded to your PM about brakes, I can help you with fixing them up, I love mine now that they are all rebuilt.
