Default Troubleshooting no brake lights - 2014 CCP

Last night I installed the ultimate light upgrade kit (T/S, horn, brake lights) to my non-LED light kit. Everything works except for the brake lights.

I installed the spring switch on the brake rod and even pulled it by hand to make sure it was being pulled enough. I tried bypassing the circuit breaker with no luck.

Any suggestions on what and how to test to find the problem? And what the heck is the "Timer Control Unit" for? Thanks!

The "timer control unit" is just what it sounds like, a timer. Since the brake lights are on whenever the pedal is pushed it uses a timer to shut them off when you've parked it and set the parking brake. Usually after 45 seconds or s it shuts them off. Yes, if the timer is bad it can prevent the brake lights from coming on at all, but before you jump to that conclusion the circuit needs to be tested - see where you have power and where you don't.

Okay, I did some testing and here's what I found:

Timer: I have power at the #1 and #3 terminal, but NO power on the #2+ terminal.

Circuit Breaker: NO power at either terminal.

Wire Harness:
Red Female Bullet Connector (goes to circuit breaker) - NO power
Red Male Bullet Connector (goes to #1 timer) - power
Black Female Spade Connector (goes to #3 - power

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yep, that’s exactly the way it’s connected.

I am not sure what do You mean by "power" on your descriptions.

The black wire with a 1/4" quick connector is the negative, but you say "power" on that wire.

The wire with the female bullet connector coming from the harness is +12v.

Did You check the post I linked? Is there a relay or did you jump the two wires to bring power to the pedal harness?

Hi Sergio,
I was just using a test light and it showed power at those terminals. If the black wire is negative, then I guess I've done something wrong somewhere.

I did install a relay under the dash - I used MadJax's installation video to install the relay and the T/S, stop light.

I've attached a drawing of how I connected everything...

We can figure this out, just need 3 answers:
1) Do you hear or feel that relay click as You turn the Key switch On/Off?

2) What is your source for 12v?

3) How did you connect the +12v and the negative to the bucket harness?

If You have a Digital voltmeter it would definitely help.

I can check tonight when I get home, but I think my lights are running from 2 batteries (16v) and not a 12v reducer - (I plan on getting one someday soon). And I'll use my voltmeter to get some good info. Thanks for all of your help!
