buzzer
'02 48 volt DS sitting here suddenly started a faint buzzing sound from the "reverse" buzzer in the dash. Just very quietly, though. Couldn't figure out what the noise was at first. Shifter is in neutral, key off. Same with key on or shifter moved (except into reverse when it operates at normal volume). What's up with this?
Thanks. BLES |

Re: buzzer
Sounds like you may have a micro switch "leaking". Can be caused by carbon buildup on the points just enough for some current to go through or the blade is slightly bent.. Standing on the drivers side there are three micro switches above the FR Shift switch. The middle one should be for the backup buzzer. It has two wires going to it and is called a "two wire" switch. With the FR lever in nuetral reach down and gently pull up and down on the swich blade. The buzzer should sound loud to identify it. Try pushing the blade down to see if the sound you hear stops. It maybe that the blade is bent up just far enough for current to leak & by bending it down it stops.I don't know of a way to clean the switch contacts. A new micro switch should only cost about $3to4. At CLub Car. Another alternate just pull the danged wire clip off the micro switch and go without the buzzer, a lot of us do. Note there should be one of the micro switches with three wires to it so don't get the wrong one. All three of the switches are held on by the same two bolts so get them back on in the same order they come off. The buzzer should sound even if the switch is off. All of this info is generic so thats why none of us charge for advice so you take your chances!!
