Which Alltrax?
So the saga of me getting stock controller rebuilt and now only going 5mph has led me to bite the Alltrax bullet. Based on the following what is the recommendation and needs??
2003 ds 48v. Mcor 4, stock ge motor. 4 awg cables. Stock suspension and tires at the moment. Might do a 3-4” lift down the road with 20” ish tires nothing crazy. 15-20mph is fine. Not worried about speed. Prefer torque. Live in FL so it’s very very flat. Thanks. |

Email a site sponsor, they will hook you up. XCT 300 might be enough

Re: Which Alltrax?
All models will give you the same 22-23 mph on stock tires. Bigger controllers allow the motor to access more amperage which the motor uses to make more torque. So more amps = more torque but, the stock motor can only handle so much or make so much. 400 amps seems to be the max for the stock motor.... and 300 is still a boost. I have a Precedent with 300a XCT and an aftermarket speed motor. This works very well on mild terrain. I would suggest 400a on anything hilly. And 500a for people who want the very most from the motor.

Re: Which Alltrax?
Well...took cover off my controller to see what was replaced. Found some rather questionable soldering. One wasn’t even joined!! Resoldered everything cleanly and bam! 14mph again. Thanks

Well so much for that company's QA/QC program and you are right, that is just poor craftsmanship......

Whoever made those connections needs to put the iron down and step away from the workbench
