DS resistor cart
So I have been cleaning up this older DS cart for the guy that did the drywall in my wifes kitchen for our remodel. New cables, forward reverse switch, ect.
I'm putting it all back together and I broke the resistor coil for 1st speed. Since I now have to buy a resistor is it possible to change all the resistors to the newer model where they are in the v-glide. not sure what the cost is for the toaster coil but for a few dollars more it may be worth it to change all of them. Just a brain fart guys. It may be a stupid question but I'm good for that |

Re: DS resistor cart
I just re-built one with the one solenoid and a V-glide setup. It works fine.
Others have suggested the multiple solenoid setup is superior. I would ask Sergio about this. |

Re: DS resistor cart
I am not sure if I understood the question correctly, but the VGlide with the little resistors inside is for a Controller cart.
The "toaster" models either have the resistor coils on top of the individual solenoids or in a single board linked to the Vglide by 6 ga cables. I also think the 5 solenoid setup was more robust since switching DC current requires "fast action" switches and the VGlide is not as good of an option as the Solenoid for that purpose. The other issue with the VGlide is partial throttle driving where You could inadvertently only be using a small portion of the pad surface to make the high current contact. |

Re: DS resistor cart
If you change to the resistor coil "single board, or to a controller setup you are talking about a fair amount of time and money.
As Sergio stated, what you have is more "robust" than the single board setup. If the V-Glide is the least out of adjustment you will soon have problems. |

I 100% agree. The 5 solenoid system was the superior resistor system, second to converting to a controller, that is. The V-glide resistor systems were a mess... Luke Club Car DS driver’s club #59 |

Re: DS resistor cart
Thanks a lot guys, This cart is the one with 5 coil resistor on a board.
I guess I'll order a coil for first gear. |
