DC Cord Length
I have two golf carts with two different charger models and want to have longer DC cords for both.
One charger is a PowerDrive model 17930-11 for my older 48 volt DS cart. The other charger is a PowerDrive2 for my wife's newer 48 volt Precedent cart. I am looking to go about 20 feet on each for versatility in where carts are parked during charging. I have seen a CC part # 10188903 for a 250-inch DC cord. The one online source I saw for it was cost about $200. Wondering if this would work on both chargers. Also wondering if I could buy appropriate wires and put it together myself, maybe reusing the existing DC plugs. I am comfortable doing solder work as needed. Thanks in advance for your comments. |

Re: DC Cord Length
As far as making your own, sure you can, just need to get the correct gauge wires and hook them to the charger and plug just as they are now.
Check with Dave Hicks (TahoeDawgZ71) - Revolution Golf Cars (He's a site sponsor) Phone: 706-836-7210 Email: info@revolutiongolfcars.com as he may be able to save you on the cost of that CC part # |

Re: DC Cord Length
Can you not use a heavy duty extension cord?

Re: DC Cord Length
My old PD charger has a molded plug so you would have to get a replacement plug from somebody like Amazon for $30.
https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charg...ound+connector Then go to Lowes and buy the length of cable you need. |

Re: DC Cord Length
On my '98 48v DS, I got a regular outdoor extension cord the length I needed and a male and a female cord end. I cut the DC cord on the charger in two in the middle and installed the male and female cord ends to the two ends (make sure the polarity is right). You can then put whatever length drop cord you need in the middle or you can plug the two ends together and have it the original length. I don't know if it will work on your chargers but I've been using it with mine and a 12' extension cord for 3 years and no issues.

Re: DC Cord Length
That's as bad as fixing your seats with duct tape.
