Default 96 ds club car rear tires rubbing fender

Hey all,

I am new to this forum and have been searching around.

I just bought a 96 DS with rear seat. I have noticed the rear wheels are rubbing a bit of the fender. I don’t want to send a lot on this older cart. I have been reading that heavy duty springs will solve is issue but was wondering if I can just install shock extensions fix rear tires rubbing?

Thanks

Usually it takes the rear springs to give you the needed height for tire clearance.

I agree with NoleFan, new springs should do it. Shock extensions only will just bottom out leaving you no suspension. If you only need a little bit you could try making longer rear hangers or if you need more, flip the rear end and mount it under the springs. Probably not the best idea, just trying to give you options.

Don't go with HD spring, just replace the stock ones. HD are like riding on cement!

I got Heavy springs from Buggies Unlimited. They weren’t real expensive and they work well.

Here is what fixed mine.... and cheap enough....

Just check to see if your shackles are straight or offset and order appropriately.

I think the offset is for gas and straight is for electric.

I made these 2in longer than stock. Should give about 1 3/4in lift.
I added shock extenders also.
