Question why -12.74v across key switch?

I have a separate 12v battery for accessories so why does my voltmeter read
-12v across the key switch instead of just 12v? can't get it to read anything else across the switch.

Dude! Put the voltmeter down and step away from the cart........Do it now. slowly ...

Really, reverse the leads and you will read +12v... is that what you mean?

Well if the battery is 12v
Then I don't see a problem

Huh...

12V on the key switch... The accessory battery is 12V...

but, it's a 48V cart...

Double check your battery wiring!

I know I know... it was late and I have an electrical gremlin switching all my wires during the night. OBC not working right, turn signals go on but don't blink, headlights don't go on at all, radio CD player starts up but radio won't go on... I'll put down the Crown Royal and try again today.

I upgraded lots of stuff (HD solenoid, F/R switch, 4ga cables, 500amp controller, PB-6, key switch, installed lights, turn signal, horn, brake light switch), put the cart up on jack stands and it runs (honestly I couldn't believe it)! Both forward and reverse work. Turn signals go on but lights don't. I think the turn signals are getting their power from the turn signal kit installed which is why they work but the headlights don't. So, if I bypass the relay and go from the battery positive to the key switch and the headlights work then it's a bad relay I figure (this is my new plan but work is getting in the way of me trying it right now). But that won't explain why the radio won't work- radio makes a sound like it is starting up but nothing comes on. One thing at a time, I'll tackle the lights first. Almost every wire has been touched in this thing so the possibilities are endless. I'll just get the voltmeter back out of the trash and get to checkin (I understand the -12v vs. +12v by switching the terminals, I just thought the red wire at the key switch going to the pos battery should read +12v when grounded properly).
Good thing these things aren't AC....I'd really be screwed!

Was there a time when all this stuff worked? Did you install all this extra stuff one system at a time? How did you get so much stuff f ed up at once!?

I love it. LOL. That's the truth! That's why I was so surprised that the thing ran when I pushed the pedal down!! I did it all at once.

O.K.... I'm confused...

The key switch your talking about...
Is it THE key switch that runs your cart?
do you have the 48V, AND the 12V going to it???
Or is the 12V on a seperate switch?
