Can someone decipher this for me

AH and RC are the standards that most battery companies use to rate the output and capacity of a deep cycle battery.
Reserve Capacity (RC) is a very important rating. This is the number of minutes a fully charged battery at 80° F will discharge 25 amps until the battery drops to minimum voltage. An amp hour (AH) is a rating usually found on deep cycle batteries. If a battery is rated at 100 amp hours it should deliver 5 amps for 20 hours, 20 amps for 5 hours, etc. The Battery Council International (BCI) is the primary trade association of OEM and after market battery manufacturers. BCI group numbers identify capacity ratings and the different sizes and shapes of batteries. Group numbers describe the length, width, height and terminal post designs for lead-acid batteries. |

The thing to keep in mind about Lead Acid batteries is that the amount of energy they can deliver is not constant, it varies depending on the discharge current rate.
The larger the discharge rate the less amount of total energy You will get out of the battery. Since different battery construction and materials produce different variances, it is a good idea to compare batteries based on a "typical" discharge rate. I would use the number of minutes the battery can deliver 75 amps to compare 6v batteries (or when using Series drive systems) and 56 amps to compare 8v batteries (or when using Sepex drive systems). For Example, a Trojan T-105 is a 225AH (20 hour rate) and can deliver 115 minutes @ 75 amps. The battery you posted can deliver 107 minutes @ 75 amps, You just need to figure out what that extra 8 minutes is worth to You. |
