2003 DS IQ will not go foward??
I have a 2003 DS IQ 48v cart. The cart has been sitting about 6 months. I replaced the batteries and wires. Once the pack has fully charged overnight I took it out for a ride. Everything was great for about 30 minutes and then the cart stopped going foward. Reverse seemed to work fine. After a few minutes foward seemed to work again. I made it home and checked all the connection everything was tight and the pack has around 51 volts. I replaced the solenoid but it did not help. When I jacked up the rear of the cart it would attempt to go backward for about 1-2 seconds with the switch in foward. I jumped the switch out and it is good. So finally I switch the F wires on the controller and the cart would go foward and not backwards. Would it be safe to say my controller is bad. I have replaced the solenoid, verified the f/r switch is good, and confirmed the motor will operate in both directions. I do remember that in the past sometimes when switching from reverse to foward I would have to press the petal several times to get the cart to go.
Thanks for any and all help. |

Re: 2003 DS IQ will not go foward??
With key switch On, Run/Tow switch in the Run position, Fwd/Rev rocker switch in the Fwd position (and also have the back jacked up off the ground).
Get your DVM and place the black (–) probe on at the motor A2 (white wire) and connect the red (+) probe to the motor A1 (green wire) and slowly depress the Go Pedal. When the MCOR closes (clicks), the voltage reading should increase from ~5vdc gradually going up to to approximately ~32-37vdc (could be higher) once the accelerator pedal is fully pressed. If everything works as described, let off the Go Pedal, flip the rocker switch to Rev and check it again. |

I did the test and in foward the tires did not turn and the volts only got to 18 and then the solenoid would click and volts dropped to 0. I did the same test in reverse and the volts steadily climb to around 46 when I left of the pedal.

Re: 2003 DS IQ will not go foward??
There are several circuits inside your controller. It sounds like the circuit that makes the car run in forward has failed, but the reverse circuit remains in good working order. If you reverse the F1 and F2 wires you're not going to hurt anything by driving it that way. Just remember, the controller thinks it's in reverse. Because of this, you're only going to be able to run half speed, the buzzer is going to sound the entire time you're driving (unless you unplug it), and you're not going to be able to go backwards at all. I suggest putting an Alltrax XCT300IQ controller on it.

Re: 2003 DS IQ will not go foward??
Thanks, I'm not sure I want to spend that much on a new controller. I was looking a having the stock controller rebuilt. Has anyone had any experience with rebuild controllers?

Re: 2003 DS IQ will not go foward??
Some people on here have had success with it. I've heard of other people who have had controllers rebuild 2 or 3 times and they still didn't work. We had a few controllers rebuilt when I worked at the Club Car dealer probably 10 years ago and they seemed to work ok. I think we had 2 out of 10 that had to get sent back for repairs. It all depends on who you have rebuild it and the quality of the job they do. In my business, I don't sell rebuilt controllers. It's more of a gamble than I care to take. I'd rather provide my customer with a warranty that doesn't come out of my pocket if there's an issue.

A new XCT gets you a 2 years warranty, more speed, torque, and many user interface capabilities you never could have with the stock Curtis for usually less than a replacement purchase and not to much more then a rebuilt one... Check it out.. https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...roller-300-amp |
