14 Precedent accelerator delay

I have a 2014 48v Precedent with rocker arm. In the past few uses it suddenly is not responsive at start up. I turn key on, put it in reverse, buzzer is loud as heck, depress the accelerator and nothing. It doesn’t move! Rock into forward and again nothing. I then turn key off and back on and eventually it moves.

When running it runs great. Batteries checked and all fine. A couple of terminals had some build up but minimal.

I was guessing solenoid going bad. I heard nothing when depressing accelerator. Today, I just happened to try a different key and it ran right off. I clearly heard an audible click each time I depressed the accelerator. Again, the original key has worked fine until just the past few days.

Possibly a solenoid going bad? Could this be a key issue? Other thoughts?

Some later model Precedents go to 'sleep' after being idle for some time, and when you get on them it can take a few attempts at hitting the accelerator before they 'wake up' and take off again (If you look, the battery 'warning light' will also light up before this happens). Annoying but usually normal. later DS cars do the same.

nickdalzell1 is right about the sleep mode. But if your reverse buzzer is on, the car isn't asleep. The buzzer is a good indicator that the system is awake. My normal procedure for waking a cart up is to put it in reverse, turn the key on, and press the accelerator pedal once. In a couple seconds, the buzzer will start to sound, indicating the system is ready to operate. If your cart won't run once the buzzer starts to sound, you have another issue. More than likely it's an MCOR failure. A 2014 would have an MCOR 4. I noticed this is your first post here so you may not know what an MCOR is so I'll explain. MCOR stands for Motor Controller Output Regulator. It has a potentiometer inside of it to regulate the throttle control. It also has a micro switch in it that is designed to close when you depress the accelerator which provides power to the controller, which will make the solenoid click and the vehicle will run. Typical symptoms of a failed MCOR microswitch are intermittent operation, or no operation at all. The MCOR4 is the latest version of the Club Car MCOR and would be a direct swap for your cart.

Yes, my first post here. I’ve had other carts before, an 08 Precedent and an 87 EZGo but first mystery issue so I came here for help.

You get a new MCOR and swap the old one out. There's no taking them apart. They're kinda glued together. Should be located under the floor mat and in the pedal group (yea that has to come out.)

Yes. You need a T40 torx driver, a T30 torx driver, and a T20 screwdriver. Remove the floormat by removing the four T40 screws holding the retainers down. Remove plastic access door. Remove two T40 screws and two T30 screws from the pedal assembly and lift pedal assembly out of the car. Once removed, remove the MCOR4 retaining screw from the mcor using a T20 screwdriver. Pull the MCOR 4 off and snap the other one on and re-install everything in reverse order. There is no need to mess with the brake adjustment to get the pedal assembly out. All you really need to do is turn the pedal assembly up on its' side to access the MCOR4. The brake stuff can stay put.
