Default Torx bolts stuck in bagwell floor.

Any recommendations for getting these corroded bolts out of the precedent bagwell floor? A couple are slightly stripped from previous owner and he others wil not turn and are close to stripping if I try any harder. All 4 bolts go 3 or 4 inches through some sort of aluminum block attached to a rear crossmember. I’m guesiing my bagwell is so hacked up because the prior owner couldn’t remove them either and needed to get underneath. The liquid is rust penetrator and I have tapped with a hammer too. All I can figure is cutting out the floor and trying to muscle the screws loose with my gigantic channel lock pliers

You need an impact wrench with a T-40 Torx Driver. They'll come out. I haven't seen one yet that didn't.

I most often use a hammer type impact driver .It will force the bit deeper in the head and shock load the bolt as well. If it strips step 2 . Cut a slot across the head and use a heavy flat bit in the impact driver. If that don`t work (GET OUT THE DRILL !!)

Thanks David and Steele. After your suggestions, I remembered I had purchased a 3/4 manual impact driver for a rusty Jeep I had, but never used it. The 40 torx bit worked perfect in the stripped out bits, but unfortunately, my impact driver must be a dud.. it didn’t turn when impacted, even with a 10lbs dumb bell. I even tried wIth a loose bolt and no turning. But it did secure the 40 bit in the 30 head so I could use my breaker bar. Then I intinially stripped the other two 30’s so I could repeat with the 40 but and breaker bar. The last one became stuck solid but got it out enough to cut with my grinder. What is this aluminum block and does it serve any relevant purpose? I’m guessing it is something leftover for group towing form her golf course days?

I don`t know how much you have used an impact driver, but you have to twist it toward the direction of off when you strike it for it to work. If you don`t it will just pound the bit straight and not twist it. So don`t junk it just yet experiment with it for future use. Valuable tool for me !

May be just as easy to grind or drill that thing out and replace the bolt with something standard.

Dave was referring to a pneumatic impact wrench, or some of the 20v models etc.

The OP was using a manual impact which can be unreliable at best.

You can always cut a line using the cutting tool across the diameter of the head of the torx bolt, careful to cut in line with to opposing ends of star torx shape. Then use a flat blade screw driver and a mallet and hit the grove on one side of said groove in a counter clockwise manner. I use an air chisel with this technique with stubborn stubborn bolts and have gotten out even the most stubborn. If done right you can use a flat head screw driver or a torx bit to reattach the bolt.

Htownblue, you're right. I was definitely referring to a pneumatic impact. I've got a Craftsman Professional 3/8" pneumatic impact that has never let me down. I rarely use it anymore unless the DeWalt 20V Electric impact won't remove it.

beachguysc, that piece of aluminum is a tow attachment leftover from it's fleet days of the past. It's trash.

I've found Never Seize, teflon tape, PB Blaster and appropriate strength Loctite to be some of the most useful items on my shelves. Don't think I could go without any of them anymore.

I'm the same way since I got my 24V Kobalt impact. It usually takes care of pretty much all my needs. If not, I'll pull out the air hose.
