Default New tires rubbing in rear.

installed new 215/35-12 tires on my 97 DS. Also installed new 3 leaf, rear leaf springs. The problem is that the body rubs on the tires when i have two adults on the back seat. All the research I've done shows that i should be all set with these springs but the tires still rub. I have the stock shocks and can replace them but im not sure they will really help. Any thoughts?

Shocks will not fix a rub. They are just dampeners.

You may want to put a 1" block in the rear to raise it that far and you should be able to clear them then.

There is a half moon saddle block over each axle tube; you get you a piece of 1/4" x 2" flat bar from Tractor Supply and cut you four - 4" long pieces and stack them on top of the saddle and under the leaf springs so you lift the cart one (1) full inch. If you have aluminum stock and a milling machine you can just mill you out a 1" thick x 2" wide x 4" long block. Your U-bolts may have to be replaced if they are not long enough. Just measure them before installation.

Had the same issue with the front and rear on my 97 DS after installing the same size wheels. I put a 1" spacer in the front and upgraded the stock rear leaf springs to the heavy duty units. The heavy duty leafs gave it enough of a lift that I didn't need to add one. Also had to use shock extensions for the stock shocks in the rear. Got those from local auto parts store. If you already changed the rear springs than adding a spacer between the axle tube spring search would be your best option. Might need longer U-bolts though.

Thanks guys, but from the way you are describing the spacer location, are you thinking that I have a lifted cart? I don't, it is stock height so I don't understand the block location. What if I lengthen the spring shackle an inch or whatever it takes? That will raise the back of the body.

Nope. Just go to where your springs sit now on the saddles and place a block under the spring.

If the cart does not have a lift the springs are under the axle. A block will not lift the cart until you put the springs above the axle.

Go with a shackle, may need to extend the shocks though,...

Yeah my springs are under the axle, which is why I was confused with how the spacer block would work. I made some longer shackles today with two hole/length options. Install can't happen until Friday though. Thanks for all the help!
