New wheels-studs too short
So I bought aftermarket wheels from an online vendor. They are marked as Club Car wheels. They came with chrome lugnuts to replace standard acorn nuts.
It didn’t feel like they turned into a large amount of threads so I removed on and re-installed a factory acorn nut so I could see how far the threads were reaching into the lug nut. They don’t even go through the acorn nuts. In other words, I don’t feel like I am getting nearly enough thread into the lugnut to securely hold the wheel on. I noticed during a test drive a wheel wobbling so I checked and already had 1 missing and another one fairly loose. I emailed the vendor but wondered if anyone had this problem and if so, what did you do to solve it. I’m not using spacers or anything.....just aftermarket wheels that says they are for a Club Car. Re: New wheels-studs too short
You can remove your studs from the hub and purchase longer ones. Bit of a pain to do though.

Re: New wheels-studs too short
I bought some longer studs from Tractor Supply. I am pretty sure they were a stud replacement kit for a trailer, came in packs of 5. They fit perfect. To remove the old ones I just had to tap them out with a hammer.

Re: New wheels-studs too short
Thanks
I assumed I could replace them but I hadn’t heard of anyone having to do this just with wheel swap. I contacted the wheel vendor but haven’t heard back yet. I’m not using spacers so I assumed they would be fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: New wheels-studs too short
I've never had this issue. What brand wheels are they?

Re: New wheels-studs too short
Also, not having seen the wheel. Are you sure you have not mounted it backwards?

Re: New wheels-studs too short
Here some more details
When I remove the wheel and measure the stud length sticking out from the brake drum I have 3/4” stud available. The cart looked bone stock when I bought it so I assume these studs are standard length. As I said before, I am not using a spacer. I haven’t checked the front yet. I will remove one of the lugnuts and replace it with an acorn nut so I can see thread engagement. I would assume it is the same issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
